Windows Television – What is it?
Windows television is often used to refer to Internet TV, online TV, or simply watching television on a PC/Windows or Mac computer.  It is the latest technological trend.  Similar to how the internet has changed the way we work, shop, book travel, and spend our free time, now, it is changing the way we watch TV too…. people are rapidly switching to watching television online through a wide variety of websites, software programs, and hardware devices.  Windows television is portable and, if preferred, can be watched (like ordinary TV) on your home’s large screen TV (by connecting your computer to your TV).

I love my TV
Like a lot of people, I love my TV.  Originally most people watch TV through antennaes.  Then satellite and cable TV came along.  Wasn’t it exciting when we could record digitally our programs using our cable TV’s or satellite TV’s digital box?  But that is old technology.  Now there are even better, less expensive options.

Windows Television - No Monthly Bills
One driving force behind the change from cable TV and satellite TV to windows television or Internet TV is the desire to avoid monthly bills, especially with the economy the way it has been and continues to be.

Windows Television – No commercials – Watch Anytime – Free
But more than eliminating monthly bills, people are switching to windows television for three more very important reasons:
- No Commercials: Some online TV such as TV shows on demand through Apple TV or Netflix enables you to watch your TV shows without commercials.
- Watch Anytime: These products also enable viewers to watch their favorite TV shows when they want, as opposed to their weekly air times.  It’s great being able to watch two or three episodes in one sitting rather then waiting 2 or 3 weeks to watch them with commercials on regular TV.
- Free: Now Apple TV and Netflix are not free.  Apple TV charges $2.99 per episode and $4.99+ per movie.  Netflix charges a monthly fee, similar to cable TV and only has the older episodes.  But windows television downloads are often free or just have a one-time software fee.  Microsoft offers “Internet TV in Windows Media Center” while Satellite Direct offers Internet TV through their software program.  Both options enable viewers to watch TV for free, although (personally speaking) Microsoft’s Windows Media Center Internet TV is quite a let down.

I have tried them all and…
Each television service has its own advantages.  After trying them all, satellite TV, cable TV, Apple TV, Netflix, Windows Media Center and more, I now use Satellite Direct’s television download for Windows and Mac computers.  It provides 3,500 channels from the U.S. and 98 other countries.  I can watch all of the major network channels (NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, etc.), my favorite TV shows, news, live sports, free movies, and much more because, and this is what I love the most, I can watch TV from around the world.  I like Satellite TV and cable TV but am tired of the commericals.  I can digitially record the shows but am tired of fast forwarding through the commercials.  Apple TV is great but the cost adds up rapidly, at $2.99 per episode.  Netflix is great too but often does not have the episodes I want, and after the initial thrill proves to have less selection than I prefer.
